Fortieth anniversary of Pablo Neruda’s death this year (2013)

July 8, 2013

I am the UK biographer of the great Pablo Neruda, whom Gabriel García Márquez called ‘the greatest poet of the twentieth century in any language’.  As this year (2013) marks the fortieth anniversary of Neruda’s death, I will be involved in a number of events in London, Cambridge and Oxford. Details to follow.

Many of you may also have read that Neruda’s body was exhumed on April 8 this year to investigate the possibility that he might have been poisoned. The forensic tests are continuing in both Chile and the United States.
